In the mid Seventies we became part of the back to the land movement. We read Mother Earth News, and Organic Gardener, and the Fox Fire books, learned all about living on the land, bought 40 acres in the wooded hills of California’s north west, and built our house and gardens. We had no idea how much we were going to have to share with the indigenous creatures who had no concept of the word “share”.
We moved up to the country with Mother Earth in our hands
Love was in our hearts, we would live life on the land.
We built our house in harmony, put gardens far and wide,
One night we went to take a soak, but in the hot tub were big eyes.
Ch:
There's a bear in the hot tub singin' by the light of the moon.
There's a bear in the hot tub, he's been scrubbin' his back since noon.
There's a bear in the hot tub, what are we going to do?
There's a bear in the hot tub, and he ain't leavin' soon.
Mr. Fox is eating our chickens, Mr. Mouse is eatin' our cheese
Mr. Coon's eating our peaches, Mr. Deer's eatin' our peas.
And all their little misses are over by the stairs
Waiting at the hot tubs side for a hug from Mr. Bear.
Ch:
There's a big cat eating Rabbits, and there's small coons in the corn.
At the rate that they're all going, there'll be nothin' left by morn'.
It's a real life country party and everybody's there,
Except for us, we're in the house, 'cause in the hot tub there's a bear.
